Let me up, I’ve had enough

Tom Petty once sang, “Let me up, I’ve had enough.”  It’s a song that’s continued to roll through my head as I read about the following stupidity in the world in which we live.

His newest Facebook friend

You can read more here about our first moron, Jacob Jock who was a juror.

Now, obviously Jock is not the sharpest tack in the box, but who the hell gets the name of the defendant..you know…the person who’s fate you’re deciding…and you go home and shoot them a Facebook friend request.

Apparently the defendant, who was female, didn’t respond but instead told her lawyer.

But that’s not the end.  After catching some sort of hell for the stunt and getting tossed as a juror, he then posted a status update.  “Ha, ha, ha, I got out of jury duty.”  Apparently the judge was not amused and found Jock in contempt of court, and now he’s got his own hearing to discuss the incident.  If he’s found guilty (and really, how could he not?), he could be facing jail time.

Please make him face jail time judge.

“Ha, ha, ha, I got out of jury duty, but I managed to go to jail myself.  Facepalm.”

Rub our noses in it

Meet Danny Hembree, murderer.  He was found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Heather Catterton in 2009 and, last November, was sentenced to death.

So his next step was to send an opinion piece to his hometown newspaper in Gastonia, NC.  Some of the things this “opinion” piece states are

  • “Is the public aware that the chances of my lawful murder taking place in the next 20 years, if ever, are very slim?”
  • “Is the public aware that I am a gentleman of leisure, watching color TV in the A/C, reading, taking naps at will, eating three well-balanced meals a day?”
  • “Kill me if you can, suckers.  Ha! Ha! Ha!”

There’s many things wrong with this, including the fact that his first two points are likely highly accurate.  There’s a serious problem there.  The next is the fact that anyone gives this monster a voice to say this shit while the friends and family of his victim are still alive in the world.  He’s just making them suffer even more.  But the most wrong thing with this is, we can’t take him up on that last point.  I’m sure if we could, there’d be a line up.

The only thing well-balanced for this asshole is his meals.  Maybe we should take them away from him for a year or so.

Just to see what it feels like

Meet another murderer, Alyssa Bustamante.  She’s 18 years old now, but back when she was 15, she decided to kill her nine-year-old neighbour because she “wanted to know what it felt like to kill someone.”

She actually told the police this.

Prosecutors pursued first-degree murder charges…and really, why wouldn’t they? …but she was allowed to take a plea deal that reduced the charge to second degree murder.  She’s getting 60 years in prison.

Why was she allowed a plea?  Why is she going to be allowed the same life of leisure that shithead Danny above gets?

Why do we put up with these people?

Changed my mind…it’s your fault

Next up is a murderer of a different sort.  David Belniak, a lovely human being.  This waste of flesh, who by the way plead guilty to the following, was driving around 80 mph when his pickup smashed into the back of another vehicle, killing Gerard Bassi, 51, at the scene.  Denise Bassi, 50, his wife, died in surgery later that same day.  Linda McWilliams, 66, Denise’s mother, was taken off life support a week later.  The only survivor of the crash, Ray McWilliams, died last March, due to the after effects of the collision.

And David?  Of course he survived.  Typically anyone with a mix of alcohol, Xanax and cocaine somehow manages to survive.  He’d been charged with DUI twice before, and had served a prison term for trafficking the date rape drug, GHB.  So, really, a fine, upstanding member of his community.

Apparently a life is worth about four years, as he was sentenced to a pathetic 12 years for killing three people.  But that’s not the worst of this story.

Nope, the worst is, this absolute dipshit has now filed a lawsuit against his dead victims.  He claims they’re the real cause of the accident.  Seriously, how could it be the coked up, drugged out, booze drenched guy speeding in the pickup?  Guess who’s representing him?  His sister.  Guess what he wants?  Money for his “pain and suffering…mental anguish…loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life.”

Like this shitstain should have any enjoyment of life anymore?

The only thing I can say about this one is, thank God I live in Canada where bullshit lawsuits like this aren’t considered.

And finally…

A slightly off-kilter voice of reason

It may be bad to admit this, but I got an absolute kick out of this guy.  My guess is you’ve heard of this one.  Tommy Jordan obviously had enough of his kid being a spoiled brat.

When he found a bitch-session status update on his daughter’s Facebook labelled “To my parents” but, interestingly, they were blocked from reading it.  Turns out Jordon works in IT.

Long story short, he decided to read the statement on camera, refute the claims, give her some well-deserved shit, then he took her laptop which, just the day before he’d spent upgrading with new software etc.  That’s when he found the update.

So he then took his gun and capped that laptop’s ass.

Apparently his daughter is grounded until she moves out and will not own another computer again until she pays him back for the software upgrades, the bullets he used to shoot the laptop with, and she has the money to buy her own.

Extreme?  Yes.  Did it need to be put out on the internet?  No.  I think families should deal with this shit internally, but, in fairness, the daughter did open that door.  And God knows anyone under the age of 25 has a completely ridiculous and skewed view of what privacy means.

So, she turned into the Slaughterer of Laptops.

In conclusion

Overall, though, going back over this list of idiocy, really kind of makes you wonder, doesn’t it?  Kind of makes me not want to live on the same planet that produces this amount and quality of stupidity.

I’ll leave you with some lines from Blue Rodeo’s Fools Like You song.

So good at doing
What you don’t do
Just trying to protect yourself
And other fools like you
So well practised
In your deceit
Behind the high walls of stupidity

  1. I’m right there with you, Tobin. I know an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, but I just don’t understand what is happening in our judicial system, particularly the pardons that Haley Barbour, the Mississippi Governor just granted to 200 convicted felons. One man who was let out scott-free was waiting for his court date for a third DUI in which he killed a young woman. I swear…this world is getting more and more strange. I don’t know if you heard about it in Canada but two teachers in my district have been removed from their classrooms for lewd acts against students. One teacher took thousands of porn shots of his classroom kids while the other masturbated under his desk and then played some sort of taste test game in which he spoon-fed his sperm to his young students. That enrages me. I don’t even know where to put the anger I feel. What is even worse is the second teacher with the spoonful of sugar will receive $4000 a month of benefits from the school board because he was not fired and they have to pay his benefits until his death. (That can’t come soon enough for me…but he will probably live to some ripe old age.) I really don’t know what kind of world we are living in anymore.

  2. I know…I guess he stepped down before they could fire him when he knew he was under investigation. The whole thing is so over-the-top that I haven’t a little pocket of my body that will house such filth. Some kids told a counselor back in 1992 that his hands were under his desk and it looked like he was masturbating, but the counselor told them to stop making up stories. So, instead of firing the two teachers and replacing them…what did they do? They fired every teacher in the entire school. Kids were crying…it’s a mess.
